Privacy notice
This notice explains how I process personal data, in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, in force from 1 September 2023), in particular its Article 19 (duty to inform).
1. Controller
Mazlum Saiyd — Courtages, Route du Bois 47, 1024 Ecublens, Switzerland, mazlum@courtages.ch.
2. This website
This website uses no cookies, no audience measurement or tracking tool, and loads no fonts, scripts or other content from third parties. It contains no form.
When you visit this website, its hosting provider, Vercel Inc. (see section 5), collects technical data on the traffic to the website, such as your IP address, location information derived from it and system configuration information, in order to deliver and operate the website. Vercel's privacy notice does not state a fixed retention period for these data.
3. Data I process and where it comes from
- Data you send me by e-mail: name, position, company, e-mail address and the content of your messages.
- Business contact data of companies I contact as a business introducer: e-mail addresses that these companies publish themselves for business enquiries, and the name and position of the persons who reply.
- Information on a purchasing need or a supply offer of a company, received from that company or from other sources.
4. Purposes
- To answer your enquiries.
- To carry out my activity as a business introducer: contacting manufacturers, registering a buyer with a manufacturer, introducing the parties and following the matter until the order. I give a buyer's name and need to a manufacturer only with the buyer's written agreement.
- To keep the records required by law, in particular accounting records.
- To respect the choice of persons who ask not to be contacted again: I keep their e-mail address on an opt-out list for this sole purpose.
5. Recipients and transfers abroad
Transfers to the United States are based on Article 16(1) FADP where the recipient is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework: with effect from 15 September 2024, the Swiss Federal Council has recognised that certified companies in the United States ensure an adequate level of data protection (Annex 1 to the Data Protection Ordinance). Ireland and the Netherlands are also on that list.
- E-mail provider: Hostpoint AG, Switzerland, which hosts the mailbox of courtages.ch in a data centre in Switzerland.
- Google (Gmail, Google Sheets): e-mails received at courtages.ch are forwarded to a Gmail mailbox, where I read and answer them, and part of my business records is kept in Google Sheets. For users in Switzerland, these services are provided by Google Ireland Limited, Ireland. Google states that data may be processed on servers outside the user's country, including in the United States and other countries. Google LLC, United States, is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; according to Google, standard contractual clauses are used where no adequacy decision applies.
- GitHub (records): the repository in which I keep my business records is hosted by GitHub; GitHub, Inc., United States, or GitHub B.V., Netherlands, acts as controller, and GitHub stores data in the United States and other countries. GitHub, Inc. is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
- Anthropic (software assistant): I use Claude, a software assistant from Anthropic, to read, draft and send my correspondence and to keep my business records. For users in Switzerland, Anthropic's privacy policy names Anthropic Ireland, Limited, Ireland, as controller, and states that data are transferred to its servers in the United States. According to that policy, transfers to countries without an adequacy decision are based on standard contractual clauses, in their version approved for Switzerland (Article 16(2) FADP).
- Website hosting provider: Vercel Inc., Covina (California), United States, which hosts this website and delivers it from its infrastructure in the United States and in other countries. Vercel Inc. is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; its data processing addendum also provides for standard contractual clauses for transfers from Switzerland.
- Manufacturers and buyers: only within a specific matter, as described in section 4, and with the buyer's written agreement. They may be established in any country, including countries whose legislation does not ensure adequate data protection; such a disclosure is then based on your consent or is directly connected with the conclusion or performance of a contract (Article 17(1)(a) and (b) FADP). The other party's country is given to you at the latest at the introduction.
I do not sell personal data and do not use it for any other purpose.
6. Retention
I keep personal data for as long as a matter is being handled and for as long as a commission may become due under a written agreement, then for the periods required by law (in principle 10 years for accounting records and business correspondence relevant to them, Article 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations). Opt-out requests are kept for as long as needed to respect them.
7. Your rights
You may ask me for access to your personal data (Article 25 FADP), its correction or deletion, and object to its processing, within the limits of the law. Please write to mazlum@courtages.ch. I answer a request for access within 30 days (Article 18 of the Data Protection Ordinance); if that is not possible, I tell you within that period when you will receive the answer.
You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Bern, Switzerland.
8. Changes
I may update this notice. The version published on this page applies.
Version of 18 October 2026.
